Why Circular Fashion Is Becoming a Bigger Business Model

Circular fashion is no longer a niche idea discussed only by sustainability advocates. It is becoming a serious business model for fashion brands, retailers, and marketplaces that want to stay relevant in a changing market. Instead of following the old pattern of making, selling, and discarding clothing, circular fashion focuses on keeping garments in use for longer through resale, repair, rental, refurbishment, and recycling. This shift is happening because the traditional fashion model is under pressure from rising costs, changing customer expectations, and stronger policy attention around waste and product life cycles. The European Commission’s textiles strategy, for example, is pushing the sector toward more durable, repairable, and recyclable products, showing that circularity is becoming part of the future direction of the industry, not just a branding message.
